Coach Tim Thomas said the team jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back. “I was able to rotate the girls and keep them fresh for the finish.” Thomas said the girls have done a great job this year and he has been proud to be a part of the success, “This was a very exciting and surprising year. No one expected us to be this good including me.” Thomas said he was proud of the way the girls battle in each game. He also said different girls step up in every game to help the team win. Caylie Huff had 13 points, Haylie Huff had nine points, Elle Thomas five points, Shaela French and Tafv Harris had four points in the win over Clewiston. “It was a good game to close the regular season with and hopefully I can keep the girls focused to make a run at the conference tournament that begins Feb. 1,” he added.
• The Lady Terriers fell at Okeechobee on Jan. 26, 70-37. Aleina Micco had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Moore Haven. Sunni Bearden had seven points, eight rebounds and six steals. Sydnee Cypress had five points and five rebounds and Tonoy Patrick grabbed seven rebounds. Raeley Matthews had 31 points for Okeechobee, (16-8). The Lady Terriers played close in the first quarter as they trailed only 14-12 after eight minutes. Okeechobee outscored Moore Haven 22-11 in the second and 17-4 in the third quarter to take control.
Moore Haven opened the 3A-6 district tournament on Monday, Jan. 30, at Southwest Florida Christian.
