‘Youth Alive’ holds 9th annual community softball game

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the “Youth Alive” youth group sponsored a very successful community event with the help of the MHMHS FCA.

This idea was started years ago as a way to share with the youth of Moore Haven as well as other surrounding communities what happens in our Youth group and others every week; praise and worship, bible study, prayer and fun and games. We do add a softball game to the end of this event to make it unique but it is always so much more than just a softball game!

This year’s event started with the blessing over the food then all youth and adults in attendance enjoyed the delicious food together, all free of charge. After everyone ate, all the youth were officially welcomed and were thanked for coming and were invited onto the field to join in praise and worship.

This year we had our very own “Confidence Beyond Chaos” as our special musical guest. The guys led the youth and adults in a very special acoustic praise and worship and it was a great blessing!

The youth then remained on the field as Kate Perry, FCA President, introduced our Speaker for the evening – Mr. Tim Vester of the Heartland FCA. Pastor Tim shared with them about success and that all the success in this world is nowhere near as great as giving your life to Jesus. He also explained about culture/racial divides and how we needed to not let those happen.

The youth were then given an opportunity to pray to receive Christ or rededicate their lives in a very moving and hopefully life changing ending to our devotion time.

After the devotion and prayer, Youth Alive member Lexie Story introduced our wonderful Coaches for the evening, Coach Jamie Brown and Coach Tommy Hare. They were also joined by pitcher James Story and new Terrier baseball coach Max Manin. She thanked them for being so willing every year to coordinate our softball game. All youth enjoyed a very fun and full of laughs softball game, whether on the field participating or in the stands cheering!

Finally, the amazing night was brought to a close by all being gathered back together on the field for final thanks to all who helped and those who came, drawings for great prizes and for closing prayer.

An event like this would not happen without many people volunteering their time in one way or another and we would like to extend our biggest thanks and sincere appreciation for each of the following people/groups that helped make this event successful: First Baptist Church of Moore Haven & Pastor Sherrill Tillery, Justin Guerry, GCSB maintenance department, MHMHS FCA, Joyce Wilson, Rita Story, Sarah Ibietatorremendia, Laura Bell Daniels, Barb Shanahan, all FBC of MH members who donated items, Ragen Mathis, Lorie Ward, Jamie Brown, Tommy Hare, James Story, Max Manin, Confidence Beyond Chaos members: William Mercer, Aaron Mercer and Michael Johnson as well as our Youth Alive leaders and members who helped get everything ready and kept things running smoothly! (I hope I have not missed anyone but there are so many to thank that helped out before, during and after and that is a problem I am thankful for – so please forgive me!)

Thank you all for your part in making this event successful, not so anyone person or group can boast, but so our amazing lord & savior can be shared with everyone and lives can be changed!

Our purpose in doing this is so all youth will know that there are good things out there for them and that they’d get involved in the youth opportunities available to them!
