88 year old seriously injured in crash in Glades County

An 88-year-old Bradenton man was seriously injured in an accident on U.S. 27 in Glades County, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports.

The incident occurred at around 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 23.

Taylor French was riding as a passenger in a 2012 Hyundai Azera when the car collided with an oncoming 2008 Chevrolet Aspen SUV, an accident report released by FHP states.

The driver of the Azera reportedly tried to make a left-hand turn onto State Road 29, but failed to see the SUV approaching from the opposite direction on U.S. 27.

The driver of the car, Corrine L. French, 78, also of Bradenton, reportedly suffered only minor injuries in the accident.

The driver and passenger of the SUV, Geordanys S. Martinez, 33, and Carlos J. Aguilera, 52, both of Lakeland, reportedly sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.

Both Taylor and Corrine French were transported to Florida Hospital in Lake Placid for treatment of their injuries.

Corrine Taylor was cited by troopers for violation of right of way/turning left in front of oncoming traffic, according to the report.
