Last year’s Womanless Beauty Contest winners pose with their prizes.

The annual High-Heel-A-Thon will be held Oct. 3 at the Chalo Nitka Fairgounds in Moore Haven beginning at 9 a.m.

Proceeds from this event go to furnish mammograms for deserving women in Glades and Hendry counties who are unable to afford health insurance, and for scholarships for Glades County graduating seniors.

This has become an annual event sponsored by Glades County Woman’s Club, and every year attendance and vendors increase.

Added this year will be a corn hole contest, and a barbecue cook-off. All of your favorites such as the Blingy Bra, decorated pumpkins, the Cow Patty Bingo and the most favorite of all, the Womanless Beauty Pageant are all part of the fun happening this Saturday.

Of course, the main event, the one-mile walkathon kicks off the occurrence. Our former president, Kim Clement, may still be nursing blisters, as she did the entire course in high heels.

The Glades County Democrat is published every Thursday.
