Even though the Glades County Woman’s Club is a service club, members love getting together just to have a girls night out. This is why they sponsored a Krafty Kut Out party in Lakeport.

President Aletris Farnam welcomed everyone, and asked them to introduce themselves, telling where they lived and something about themselves. She noted that the party was not only a fun time for club members, but also a time to meet prospective new members.

Aletris also brought us up to date on plans for the Hi Heel-A-Thon, which GCWC sponsors in October. In addition to the regular vendors, she announced that there will be a BBQ Cookoff, and a corn hole tournament. Many mammograms have been furnished to deserving women who do not have insurance, as a result of the proceeds from this annual event.

Hostess, Felinda Langdale, made everyone feel welcome by inviting them to help themselves to refreshments as they chose the “Kut out” that they wanted to paint. She furnished, in addition to the delicious dips and cake, all the brushes and paints for a completed project. Members thanked Aletris for arranging this fun get together, and reminded prospective members that they need a current club member to sponsor them.

A fashion show with styles from CATOs is being planned, with fashions being available for purchase. Also, Aletris told members to “hang onto your hats” as a tea is in the offing during the winter.
