On June 1, I delivered an estimate of the total assessed value of non-exempt property for the current year to each taxing authority. With this information they have begun their budget planning process. Each of these taxing authorities will set their tax rate based on the amount they need to fund their annual budget.

We have spent most of June finalizing values, administering exemptions and land classifications and have submitted the Preliminary 2015 Glades County Tax Assessment roll to the State of Florida, Department of Revenue for their review and approval.

If you have applied for a brand new property tax exemption or land classification for the 2015 property tax assessment year, you have been granted the exemption unless you have received a signed Notice of Disapproval from me.

Remember, you must have owned the property on or before Jan. 1, in order to qualify for a 2015 property tax assessment exemption or land classification.

If you have any questions regarding your property assessment, please let me know. Call 863-946-6025, email or visit my office located on 500 Ave J, Room 202, 2nd Floor, Courthouse.

The Glades County Democrat is published every Thursday.
