First-place winners in the barbecue contest were John Martin and Drew Martin, with judges David White, Jeff McGirt and Ron Snell.

A record 15 teams competed in the Rib Cook-Off. Teams were judged on presentation and taste. Judges for the event were David White, Jeff McGirt and Ron Snell, all of LaBelle. The judges had quite a task of tasting 15 different ribs. They enjoyed the job and all took a to-go box of the remnants to enjoy later.

Winners of the Rib Cook-Off were, in first place, Smokin’ Dogs, John Martin and Drew Martin of LaBelle; second place, Trick Daddy, Patrick and Trick Arnold of Moore Haven; third place, Jeff and Kim Hill and Bilinda and Duane Pottorff, representing the Glades County Sheriff’s Office.

Second-place winners in the barbecue contest were Patrick and Trick Arnold, with judges Jeff McGirt, Ron Snell and David White.

The creativity in the Best Presentation Category was interesting, with presentations ranging from silver trays with wine, a beautiful pink handcrafted box and the winning presentation by Trick Daddy with pink sparkle and flashing lights.

The second event of the day was the Walkathon, with Darla Barner winning first place and youngest participant, and Janet Shelton winning second place and the oldest participant.

The club wishes to thank all the participants, sponsors and citizens for helping us have another successful event.
