GCSO Sgt. Neives received minor injuries in traffic crash

MOORE HAVEN — Glades County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Sergeant Neives received minor injuries sustained in a June 24 traffic crash.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release stated that at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 24, a 2003 Honda vehicle operated by Joseu Padilla, 28, of Clewiston, was traveling north on West Avenue SW in the center of the road at the same time a 2016 Ford Explorer operated by GCSO  Sergeant T. Neives, 35, of Moore Haven, was responding to the area – based on a report of suspicious activity involving the Honda.

As the Explorer turned onto West Avenue SW from U.S. 27, Sergeant Neives observed the Honda was traveling in the center of the road.

The Explorer attempted evasive action. The front of the Honda struck the front of the Explorer.

After the impact the Honda came to final rest on the west shoulder and the Explorer came to final rest on the east shoulder.

Padilla was charged with DUI property damage/injury and no valid driver license.

The traffic crash was investigated by FHP Trooper J. Rivera Rodriguez, Crash Investigator.
