A 68-year-old Fort Lauderdale man died after his vehicle overturned in Glades County, Lt. Greg Bueno, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The incident happened at 12:33 p.m. on March 17 on U.S. 27, just north of S.R. 80.
The man, David Lawrence Roberts, suffered fatal injuries after suffering a medical episode and losing control of his vehicle, a 2002 GMC Sierra.
According to a report of the wreck, troopers say he was traveling north on U.S. 27 before his vehicle exited the roadway and entered a ditch. His truck collided with an embankment and a tree, overturned and came to a final rest on its left side in one foot of standing water.
Emergency crews arriving at the site of the crash were unable to rescue the man, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The report mentions that the driver was wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred.
