A man was shot two times near a home on the 300 block of South San Pedro Street in Clewiston last week, the Clewiston Police Department reports.

At around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, police officers responded to a call of shots fired.

At the scene, officers spoke to a witness who said she saw the victim, Clarence Jerome Hunter, 31, of Moore Haven, fall back into the front door of the home on San Pedro after being shot once in the chest and once in the arm.

Hunter was treated by Hendry County EMS and reportedly survived the assault.

Police are currently investigating who may be responsible for the shooting.
