Okeechobee man fatally injured in auto accident

GLADES — A 48-year-old Okeechobee man, John Zachary Cline, has died as an apparent result of the injuries he sustained in an accident on Monday, Dec. 24, at approximately 9:31 p.m., on S.R. 29 and U.S. 27 in Glades County.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release stated that the 1997 Chevy SUV, driven by Mr. Cline, was traveling northbound on S.R. 29 approaching the intersection of U.S. 27 and failed to negotiate a left turn. As a result, the vehicle traveled onto the U.S. 27 east shoulder and struck a barb wire fence. The vehicle continued to travel east until the front of the vehicle struck a tree.

Mr. Cline was pronounced deceased on Monday, Dec. 31.
