Single vehicle crash leaves one dead

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported an accident on July 23 at 4:45 a.m. at US 27 and Boar Hammock Ranch Road in Glades County.

According to the FHP, Christopher John Walsh, 37, of Davie, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling north on US 27 when he ran off the roadway onto the east shoulder striking a railroad cantilever/crossing gate post head-on.

The passenger, Michael Ray Yarborough, 30, of Sunrise was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by EMT medics.

The driver was transported by Air-Med to Lee Memorial and at that time reported in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation.
