Two Moore Haven residents injured in crash

COLLIER COUNTY — Two local residents were in critical condition caused by a Dec. 1 vehicular accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported a vehicular accident at approximately 8:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, involving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Javier Martinez, 38, of Immokalee, and a 2004 BMW 325I operated by Joseph Martinez, 36, of Moore Haven.

The Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on State Road 29 in Collier County. The BMW was traveling south on State Road at the same time when the Chevrolet made a left turn west into the path of the BMW, causing the BMW to collide with the front left of the Chevrolet. Both vehicles came to a rest on the raised concrete island in the intersection.

Joseph Martinez and a Moore Haven passenger in his vehicle were reported to be in critical condition. The identification of the passenger is pending.

Mr. Martinez was charged with failure to yield to right-of-way.
