Author Cervantes visits MHES students

Moore Haven Elementary School (MHES) hosted an author visit during Celebrate Literacy Week. Angela Cervantes spoke with fourth and fifth graders about her books and what inspired her to become a writer. Some of the students have participated in a book club with a shared reading of Mrs. Cervantes book, “Gabby, Lost and Found.” There was a time for book signing and then a wonderful lunch provided by some of the students parents. The character in the books favorite food was Mexican food, so the students shared their favorite Mexican dishes with homemade tamales, enchiladas, and tortilla chips, to name a few. A big thanks goes out to the Glades Education Foundation for supporting mini-classroom grants that made the author visit possible.
