Glades County recognizes West Glades students

Special to the Glades County Democrat/WGS

West Glades School (WGS) students were recognized at the May 10 Glades County School Board Meeting for completing the Sunshine State Challenge. The purpose of this statewide reading motivational program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure. WGS has 17 students who read 10 of the 15 books and 11 students who read all 15 books. These 28 students were rewarded on May 23 with a trip on a limo party bus to Fort Myers, where they had lunch at Chuck E Cheese and received a personal tour of Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Thanks to Florida Power & Light for funding through the Glades Education Foundation that purchased their Sunshine State books and financed the reward trip for West Glades students.
