Moore Haven scouting report

Moore Haven kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 41-27 victory at home Monday, Oct. 10, against Southwest Florida Christian to improve to (5-2) on the season.

Friday, Oct. 14, the Terriers face Damon Jones and the St. John Neuman Celtics in another key district battle.

The Celtics (4-2) and the Terriers can ill afford another district loss.

The Celtics are coached by Damon Jones. They have defeated St. Petersburg Catholic 40-36, loss to Canterbury 34-20, defeated Southwest Florida Christian 23-17, defeated Marco Island Academy 31-21, loss to Community School of Naples 47-21, and defeated Evangelical Christian School 25-7.

The Celtics (2-4) are led by quarterback Russ Zepeda who has completed 45 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and 418 yards. The Celtics pose a tough assignment for the Terrier defense in the run game because they have so many options. Jensen Jones has 418 yards rushing, an average of 8.5 yards per carry, Stanley Thompson 249 yards, 6.6 yards per rush, and Travon Petit 189 yards, 9.5 yards per rush. Oliver Wasem has 257 yards in returns this year. Mauricio Santamarina has 49 tackles, Jones 29 and Emerson Lonasee 29 tackles on defense for the Celtics.

Quarterback John Cox continues to lead the Terriers in rushing, passing and total yards.

The game is played at 3000 SW 53rd St. in Naples. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. The school charges for admission and parking.
