Glades County sports briefs

Several runners from the West Glades School competed on Sept. 10 at the Fort Myers High School Hoptar Invitational at Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres.

In the 3,000-meter race, Natalie Aguirre led the Panthers with a 13th place finish in 15:05. Yaquelin Villeda finished in 18:43, good for 41st place and Victoria Maxwell finished in 18:55, to finish 42nd.

Moore Haven Terriers

Several Panther boys competed in the 3,000-meter race. Marco Rios led the way with a time of 12:10 to finish 18th overall. Johnathan Munson finished in 13:54 for 42nd place, Joseiah Vasquez finished in 14:52 to earn 55th place and Case Hendry finished in 56th place with a time of 14:53. Other Panthers who competed included Gion Crews, Diego Santiago, Harley Collins and Eduardo Aguirre.

The Moore Haven cross country teams had a busy week at the Chet Brojek Invite in Avon Park and at home in Moore Haven.

Sebring won the boys meet with 36 points, Avon Park was second with 45, Mulberry was third with 89, Hardee was fourth with 118, Lake Placid was fifth with 124 and Moore Haven was sixth with 139. Walker Memorial Academy finished seventh with 194 points.

Dylan Branch was the race winner with a time of 17:04. Cristobal Morales finished sixth to lead Moore Haven.

Hardee High won the girls race with 36 points, Avon Park was a close second with 37, Sebring was third, Lake Placid fourth and Moore Haven fifth.

At the home meet the Lady Terriers took second place and the boys finished in third place. Morales finished second overall and Delfino Mayorga finished in seventh place. Steph Aranda led the Lady Terriers with an eighth place finish, Blanca Aranda was ninth and Cristina Toledo finished in 10th place.
