Moore Haven basketball team is 3-0 for season

Moore Haven Terriers

Moore Haven boys basketball Coach Matt Zinser is pleased with the team’s (3-0) start to the season.

The team won two games at Lehigh Acres Tournament and won at Evangelical Christian on Nov. 28, 53-51.

The team start is remarkable when you consider they have missed all state guard Michael Lopez early in the season.

“The team played good enough to win this weekend,” Zinser said, “We are a fairly young team so we are taking every opportunity to learn from each possession of the game.”

Zinser said he knows if the team is solid defensively they have a better chance to win ball games. He also has emphasized to the team not to turn the ball over.

Still, Zinser said the team has a lot to work on in upcoming games, “There is not an area of the game that we do not need to work on. We are learning on the fly and we are doing our best to learn and not make mistakes.” Zinser said he was real pleased with the effort and the energy of the team throughout the games. Against ECS, John Cox and Jacob Smith both had 11 points, Sergio Arietta and Andrew Fish had nine points, Robert Harris had five points, and Eric Hunter had four points. Moore Haven lost to Evangelical Christian 67-60 in girls’ basketball action on Nov. 28. The Sentinels were led by McKenzie Lynk with 28 points. Mackenzie Blair added 18 points.
