Terrier boys’ basketball drop two games at tournament

The Moore Haven boys’ basketball team lost two games last week at the Palmetto Ridge Holiday Tournament.

Moore Haven (7-6) fell to the host school 72-55 on Dec. 22 and then lost to East Lee County in the third place game, 74-71, on Dec. 23.

A 23-6 run by the Bears in the second quarter led Palmetto Ridge to victory. They held a 42-17 advantage at half time and led 56-31 at the end of the third quarter.

Michael Lopez led Moore Haven with nine points. Jacob Smith added eight points and Sergio Arietta added seven points. John Cox had six points and six steals for the Terriers.

The Bears went on to win the tournament with a 62-53 victory over Estero High on Dec. 23. East Lee County, (12-3) was presented the third place trophy.
